HISTORY

The history of the Lidsing Garden Community is tied to the Maidstone Borough Local Plan (adopted 2024).

The Lidsing Garden Community was first allocated in the preparatory Regulation 18b ‘Preferred Approaches’ version of the Local Plan Review which was consulted on between December 2020 and January 2021. Following feedback from this consultation, the Council prepared a subsequent draft submission of the plan, known as the Regulation 19 version, which was consulted on between October and December 2021.

Following the consultation on the Regulation 19 version of the Local Plan Review, the plan was submitted to the Secretary of State for Examination on 31st March 2022. The Examination of the Maidstone Borough Local Plan Review continued until 8th March 2024 when the Inspector’s final report on the plan was received by the Council. The Local Plan Review was subsequently adopted by Maidstone Borough Council on 20th March 2024, with the Lidsing Garden Community being allocated in the plan as a key strategic development site at Policy LPRSP4(B). The wording of the Lidsing allocation policy can be read here.
