travel & transport

The development of Lidsing Garden Community will provide a wealth of new travel and transport opportunities, centred on the creation of a new east-west link across the site which will improve connections and access between the neighbourhoods in the south of Medway. The new east-west link will also see the upgrading of Junction 4 of the M2 motorway via a new arm being adding to the existing roundabout. This road will then run directly into the Lidsing Garden Community on a new bridge over the motorway which will see the existing Maidstone Road bridge replaced. Public transport provision will be focused on establishing new bus connections from the Lidsing Garden Community to the neighbouring communities of Lordswood and Hempstead and then on towards the Medway towns. Active travel will also be promoted through the provision of pedestrian and cycle connections not just across the Garden Community, but through new links to neighbouring areas including the Capstone Country Park to the north.
